The Day After Father’s Day

The dirty little secret about parenting is that nobody really knows what they're doing. I’ve been a counselor long enough—and talked to enough parents—to know that when people are honest, they’ll tell you: parenting is really hard.
You’re not sure if you’re getting it right. Just when you think you’ve figured your kids out, they change. They grow. They become someone new almost daily.
As parents, we have to keep evolving with our children—learning, adjusting—while remaining a stable-constant, a grounding presence in their lives. Balancing those two things is no easy task.
I’m incredibly blessed to have two really good sons. In a world that often feels unhinged, raising children is both an act of faith and a vote for the future. It’s a bold and optimistic belief that love will ultimately win.
